The 70-year-old is taking on his fourth senior inter-county job on the back of managing his native Tyrone for 18 seasons before three with Louth and another with Derry.
Mickey Harte has made a shock return to inter-county management as joint Offaly boss with Declan Kelly.
Kelly was appointed Offaly manager ahead of the 2024 season but it turned out to be a difficult one as the team struggled throughout the year, firstly in the League as they narrowly avoided relegation to Division Four. A county board review of the season concluded that Kelly needed to shake up his management team - and that has certainly been achieved in the most dramatic way possible with the 70-year-old taking on his fourth senior inter-county job on the back of managing his native Tyrone for 18 seasons before three with Louth and another with Derry.
“I am very excited to work with Declan and the players to get the best out of the footballers in both the League and Championship in 2025. I would like to thank Michael Duignan for his professionalism and honesty during our meetings.”
