The school blamed a “third party source” for the photo that accompanied a trivia question preceding Saturday’s game against Michigan.
Michigan State apologized Saturday night, saying it was “deeply sorry” for displaying a giant image of Adolf Hitler on its video board during a trivia segment that preceded its home game earlier in the day against Michigan. The image was posted during a pregame trivia segment after a question asking where Hitler was born as fans were arriving for the game against the No. 2 Wolverines. The school said that the segment was provided by a “third-party source.
“MSU is aware that inappropriate content by a third-party source was displayed on the video board prior to the start of tonight’s football game,” associate athletic director Matt Larson saidafter the school received significant backlash. “We are deeply sorry for the content that was displayed, as this is not representative of our institutional values.
Michigan State lost the game, 49-0, and the video board message was the latest blemish in a troubling season for the 2-5 Spartans. Last month the school, the school said it had terminated Tucker’s 10-year, $95 million contract signed in November 2021 “for his admitted and undisputed behaviors which have brought public disrespect, contempt and ridicule upon the university; and constitute a material breach of his agreement, and moral turpitude.
