Jim Harbaugh will reportedly be suspended for Michigan’s first four games of the 2023 season after allegedly lying to investigators about NCAA violations.

reported Tuesday that Harbaugh and the NCAA are working toward a resolution that would result in Harbaugh being suspended for Michigan’s first four games of the year.about NCAA violations committed by the program, including meeting with two recruits during the COVID-19 dead period in 2020-21, using too many coaches at practice sessions and watching player workouts over a video feed.

Offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore and tight ends coach Grant Newsome will also be suspended for one game each, according to. Former Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, who is now the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, will receive a one-year show-cause penalty, according to Dellenger’s report.

Per Dellenger, the agreed-upon sanctions must still be approved by the NCAA Committee on Infractions, which has the authority to change the penalties. While Michigan is now expected to be without Harbaugh for the first third of its regular season, the four-game suspension won’t keep Harbaugh out of any of Michigan’s marquee games. The Wolverines open the season with a non-conference slate of East Carolina, UNLV and Bowling Green before starting conference play against Rutgers, with all four of those games being home games at Michigan Stadium.
