Truvada is prescribed to prevent HIV infection in people who are at risk of contracting the virus. The medication is also used in combination with other drugs to treat infection.Gilead SciencesHerrera and his co-conspirators received $16.7 million to $25 million in payment from two wholesalers, according to court filings.Medications are often siphoned off the legal market by purchasing them from individual patients who were prescribed the drugs.
A lawyer for Herrera, who is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 21, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
