The 39-year-old was turned over to Mexican authorities on Jan. 17 without incident.

Carlos Mario Zacarias-Jimenez, 39, was arrested and jailed in Hays County on Nov. 7 for the driving without a license offense.A man arrested in Hays County in November for driving without a license was deported last week to Mexico, where he was wanted on suspicion of attempted femicide and rape.

Carlos Mario Zacarias-Jimenez, 39, was arrested and jailed in Hays County on Nov. 7 for the driving without a license offense, according to jail records. He was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement immediately. Zacarias-Jimenez was not a U.S. citizen, according to a news release from ICE, and authorities determined he was the subject of an active arrest warrant out of Mexico for attempted femicide — murder of a woman — and rape.

The fugitive was transported from the Hays County Jail to the South Texas ICE Processing Center in Pearsall, and then eventually to the Mexican port of entry in Laredo. He was turned over to Mexican authorities on Jan. 17 without incident, according to ICE. “Individuals attempting to evade justice in their home countries will be found and returned to face their punishment,” said Sylvester M. Ortega, San Antonio acting field office director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, in the news release.
