Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Rain warning for three southern counties with further flooding expected in the region
Met Éireann has issued a new weather warning for the south of the country as the region recovers from Storm Babet.
Following the torrential rainfall experienced during Storm Babet, tonight’s showers are likely to lead to further localised flooding due to waterlogged soils and high river levels in the south. Eoin Sherlock insisted that data had supported its decision to issue an Orange warning ahead of the storm, despite “one or two” weather stations in Munster “creeping into Red territory”.
He noted that there is “only one or two millimetres” between the level of rainfall dictating an Orange or Red warning, but admitted that “ourselves at Met Éireann, we have to do a little better in this area”.
