Meryl Streep will co-chair the 2020 MetGala alongside Lin_Manuel Miranda & more
announced the theme for next year's event on Wednesday , "About Time: Fashion and Duration," which it said is "inspired in part by the novels of Virginia Woolf and the theories of the early-20th-century French philosopher Henri Bergson, whose admittedly somewhat obscure but also important musings on time posited it as a constantly mutating stream rather than a series of discrete moments.
The event will mark the 150th anniversary of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is why the Gala will celebrate a century-and-a-half of fashion history pulled from its archive and presented in what is described as a "disruptive" timeline. And while the 2020 Gala will showcase 160 women's fashion pieces from the past 150 years, more importantly, it will mark Streep's first time attending.theme of "Camp: Notes on Fashion" was highlighted by eye-popping looks on the pink carpet from first timer Harry Styles, frequent guest Lady Gaga, Serena Williams, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Shawn Mendes, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, Cardi B and Katy Perry.
