Kita sedia maklum cadangan penggabungan UEM Sunrise dan ECO World mula digerakkan semasa Dr Mahathir Mohamad menjadi perdana menteri ke-7 lagi tetapi cadangan itu ditolak oleh Mahathir dan kerajaan Pakatan Harapan . Usaha penggabungan kedua-dua syarikat ini dicadangkan sekali lagi kepada kerajaan Perikatan Nasional hari ini.
Adalah tidak wajar untuk kerajaan PN meluluskan penggabungan UEM Sunrise dan ECO World untuk menjadi syarikat gergasi ke-2 terbesar tanpa mempunyai pegangan majoriti dan hanya akan memiliki 48% pegangan saham dalam UEM Sunrise, turun dari 66%. Pada masa sama, UEM Sunrise pula mempunyai aliran tunai yang tinggi bersamaan dengan RM700 juta dan jumlah pinjaman rendah. Status kewangan dan aset UEM Sunrise yang lebih kukuh ini dilihat seolah-olah digunakan untuk menutup beban hutang pinjaman syarikat ECO World dan juga hartanahnya yang tidak terjual.
