The deal closes the curtain of 56-years of Hains’ family ownership of the 10-bedroom, seven-bathroom ivy-covered Georgian Revival mansion designed by architectThe pool was empty, and the tennis court needed a revamp. The property was billed as the elite suburb’s ultimate renovator’s delight, embodying the same old-school elegance ofHowever, when the mansion failed to find a buyer, it was temporarily taken off the market by the Hains family.

It’s understood the recent deal was handled by listing agent Marshall White Stonnington director Marcus Chiminello alongside Kay & Burton director Andrew Sahhar, who introduced the as-yet unidentified buyer. Meanwhile, transactional adviser Mark Wizel, of Wizel Property Group acted on behalf of the estate.

While all parties declined to comment on the deal specifics, Mr Chiminello said the deal was driven by both head and heart. “It was more than a commercial process and decision, it was very much an emotional one to ensure the appropriate custodian purchased Albany Road.” Mr Chiminello said.
