Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp is urging the state government to boost foot traffic in the city by reducing Myki fares on weekdays and encouraging workers to commute to work.

Melbourne's Lord Mayor is calling for the Victorian state government to help increase foot traffic in the city and ease cost-of-living pressures by cutting Myki fares during the week.

Taking on board the recommendations, Lord Mayor Sally Cap is advocating for discounted Myki fares on Monday and Friday as many Victorians still choose to work from home at the beginning and end of the week. “We’re seeing many aspects of our city becoming even more vibrant than pre-COVID weekends and weeknights but we are still seeking that predictability and uplift in commutable traffic on Mondays and Fridays," Ms Capp told SkyNews.com.au.
