In her new role, the longtime arts journalist will oversee the arts and entertainment coverage both in print and online
Pam Kragen, a longtime critic and writer for the Union-Tribune, has been named the new Arts & Entertainment Editor, taking over the role previously held by Michael James Rocha, who is becoming the newspaper’s Digital Creative Director.
In announcing her promotion, Union-Tribune Editor and Publisher Jeff Light said: “Pam has been a valued and prolific critic and feature writer for the U-T for a decade and was arts editor at the North County Times for 15 years before that. A longtime resident of Vista, she has a background as a reporter, copy editor, business editor and assistant city editor.”
At the U-T, Pam has written about theater, opera and dining, and has been the paper’s theater critic and dining critic in the last few years. She also has been one of the most prolific feature-story writers at the paper. In addition, she has worked as a metro editor on the weekends and has jumped in to write breaking news. She took some time to answer some questions about her passion for journalism, especially arts journalism.
