“It was crazy — we were all in our hotel rooms waiting to be either cut or told we made the team,” said Korchinski. “So it was pretty stressful before, but once coach Williams knocked on our door and told me that I made the team, it was a rush. “Even as a first-year kid, his hockey IQ just really stood out,” Arnold said of Korchinski. “He was just such a smart player. He made just smart decisions. He just saw the ice really well. He would make plays like almost nobody else would see it, but Kevin would see it. That is what probably I saw at that young age, just how he saw the ice and how he sort of manufactured plays that almost seemed like there was nothing there. He saw something that nobody else did.
