PUTRAJAYA: Don't be too proud of “cheating” the police, as the long arm of the law will get you eventually, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.
He advised those who believe they can move around during the movement control order without being caught to stop immediately.
He said there was a viral social media post about a family who had apparently travelled interstate, which is prohibited during the MCO. "This person claimed that he and his family travelled back to KL and even gave tips how to trick or cheat the police."Anyway, police have already identified those involved and will take action against them," he said.
On those who questioned whether police have the authority to arrest those for violating the MCO, Ismail Sabri said the Act allows them to do so. He said Section 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act states that the Health Minister can appoint anyone to become officers with the power to arrest those who do not adhere to the order and Section 3 of the same Act states that any officer given the authority to act is recognised as a public officer as stated in the Penal Code.
