Dalam satu kenyataan yang dikeluarkan secara bersama, kedua-dua parti menyatakan kekecewaannya dengan perkembangan semasa yang menyaksikan asas kesefahaman dalam BN tersebut tidak lagi dihormati.
“MCA dan MIC sebagai wakil kepada komuniti masing-masing menyedari bahawa perubahan yang membentuk BN hari ini telah ditolak oleh komuniti masing-masing, maka mencadangkan pembubaran atau penstrukturan semula untuk kembali kepada semangat dan tujuan asalnya. “Sehubungan itu, MCA dan MIC tidak ada pilihan lain kecuali untuk meneruskan langkah untuk meneroka pakatan baharu yang menggambarkan tujuan sebenar penyatuan dalam kepelbagaian dalam niat asalnya,” katanya.
