KUALA LUMPUR: The national economic development agenda must not only be focused on a specific race as the interests of all Malaysians must be safeguarded, says MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
Dr Wee agreed with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s position on the matter and stressed that national economic development must be enjoyed by all Malaysians.
“On this matter, what was stressed by Anwar is right. In a world without boundaries, we cannot say that this is exclusive for a certain race,” he told reporters when met at Parliament lobby on Tuesday . On Monday , Anwar said the government’s economic agenda must be needs-based and not race-based and racial politics must be shed for the country to move forward.
“No, I was just reiterating that because I sense that there is some confusion on this. Some Malays feel that when we talk about transparent, coherent policy based on need, their position will be marginalised,” he said.
