The Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) requires an allocation of approximately RM100 million to build retention ponds in order to address the city's flood problems. Datuk Bandar Kuala Terengganu, Datuk Rosli Latif, stated that five locations have been identified as frequently affected by floods.

KUALA TERENGGANU : Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu memerlukan peruntukan kira-kira RM100 juta untuk membina kolam takungan bagi menyelesaikan masalah banjir di bandar raya ini.

Katanya, MBKT akan berkolaborasi dengan Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran negeri untuk memohon peruntukan daripada kerajaan Pusat bagi melaksanakan projek pembinaan kolam takungan bagi menyelesaikan masalah banjir di kawasan terlibat Rosli berkata demikian ketika mengulas persiapan MBKT menghadapi banjir pada Monsun Timur Laut yang dijangka berlaku November depan.

“Setakat ini, MBKT dan JPS menggunakan peruntukan jabatan untuk melakukan kerja-kerja pembersihan parit dan longkang tersebut,” katanya.
