Outspoken DA KwaZulu-Natal MPL Mbali Ntuli has resigned
City Press understands that Ntuli handed in her resignation on Thursday morning. In her resignation letter, Mbali said most DA members knew of the challenges she had faced in the party.
In 2011, she was a councillor in Inanda, which falls under the eThekwini Municipality. She was the DA Youth Federal Leader in 2013 and a member of KwaZulu-Natal legislature by 2014. Two of its key black leaders, former leader Mmusi Maimane and ex-Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba, resigned after Helen Zille was elected as the interim federal council chairperson last year.
Moodey, along with former DA Johannesburg mayoral candidate Funzi Ngubane, the former city of Tshwane regional chairperson Abel Tau, as well as Mashaba’s former chief of staff Michael Beaumont went on to join ActionSA.Then DA MP Phumzile van Damme also resigned from the party. Two-term Midvaal mayor Bongani Baloyi also jumped ship.
