The construction of the Mazu Statue in Kudat needs to be looked through a broader perspective, said former deputy chief minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
Bung Moktar said the project would be able to contribute to the State's economy, especially in terms of tourism.
He said residents would also benefit from business activities, especially in producing handicraft products, food and so on to be sold to visitors. "After completion, the tallest Mazu Statue in the world will be another tourist attraction in Kudat after the Tip of Borneo," he said in a statement on Friday.
