Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian led the distribution of grocery gift certificates to registered solo parents in the city during the city's inaugural "Solo Parent's Day" program at Wes Arena in Barangay Punturin on Friday, April 15.

He noted that there are over 8,000 solo parents registered in the city. Each registered solo parent received a one-time grocery coupon subsidy worth P500.According to Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividady Borja, the local government had also prepared training sessions where solo parents learned about parenting and livelihood.

Since it's the city's first celebration of Solo Parent's Day, special dance performances from some solo parents from different city districts entertained the audience during the program.
