Maybank Investment Bank Bhd. (Maybank IB) anticipates Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) will keep the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at 3.0% in 2025 to support the economy. The bank cites the narrowing interest rate gap between the US and Malaysia due to the Federal Reserve's rate cuts, reduced risk of ringgit depreciation through BNM’s measures encouraging corporate repatriation of export earnings, and the expected implementation of a two-tier pricing system for RON95 in the second half of 2025 to control inflation.
PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara Malaysia dijangka mengekalkan Kadar Dasar Semalaman pada 3.0 peratus tahun ini, bagi menyokong ekonomi dari segi pergerakan ringgit serta rasionalisasi RON95 pada separuh kedua 2025, kata Maybank Investment Bank Bhd. .
“Ini mewujudkan rizab luar, memberikan BNM peluang untuk melakukan campur tangan pasaran mata wang asing, bila-bila masa diperlukan,” katanya dalam taklimat media Prospek 2025 oleh Maybank IB melalui Zoom di sini, semalam. “Jika mereka melaksanakan sistem yang sama untuk petrol RON95, impak kepada inflasi juga seharusnya dapat dibendung,” ujarnya.
