They say the Malaysian Aviation Commission and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia have different functions and should not be merged.
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said his ministry is working on a proposal to merge the Malaysian Aviation Commission and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia .
“You can see that there are so many problems with the two agencies. They can’t cope. If everything is put under one roof that would be even worse,” Wee told FMT. Public Transport Users Association president Ajit Johl agreed that Mavcom should remain independent, but said a restructuring would benefit consumers.
However, Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents president Nigel Wong said that combining the two bodies would be a good move as it will simplify operations.
