The Matildas are back in action for the first time since their stirring home World Cup run when they host Iran in the first of three Olympic qualifiers.
Matildas coach Tony Gustavsson named a full-strength team two weeks ago for three Olympic qualifiers, and we’re getting most of our favourites back.
Except for Kyah Simon and Aivi Luik who were unavailable through injury, it’s the same team that came placed fourth at this year’s World Cup. Kyah Simon, who didn’t play any minutes at the World Cup due to an ACL injury, was left out of the Olympic qualifiers squad.
Good evening football fans, and welcome to our live coverage of the first of three Olympic qualifiers for the Matildas. It’s been nine long weeks since Australia’s favourite team made history at the World Cup earlier this year, but the wait is finally over. The Matildas take on IR Iran from 10pm tonight, so strap in, dust off the jersey, and let’s get ready for the action.Credit:
