The Matildas hit the front just after leading attackers Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord were replaced in a welcome sign for coach Tony Gustavsson.

While the majority of the 50,629 crowd - the biggest ever for a Matildas game in Australia - went home happy, a late scare for Tameka Yallop will be a concern. “Knowing , if this would’ve been a World Cup game she would not have come off,” Gustavsson said, adding that he is “hoping” for a good outcome.

Kerr was also spotted on the bench with ice on her hamstring but is not expected to be in any doubt for the World Cup.
