PETALING JAYA: Former education minister Maszlee Malik has been appointed as the new chairman of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies , effective March 31.
IAIS is an independent non-profit think tank established in 2007, with the main objective of promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diversity of Islam. His first foray into politics was during 14th general election in 2018 when he joined Bersatu — which was aligned with Pakatan Harapan at the time — and wrestled the Simpang Renggam seat from BN.Maszlee was appointed as the education minister after PH won the mandate to form the government following their victory in GE14.
