When young people decide to participate in the political process, they can help determine the outcome of elections, writes Marshall Dlamini.

As we commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Economic Freedom Fighters , it is clear the party has transformed South Africa’s electoral landscape.

For the first time in the nation’s history, more than half of the registered voters chose not to cast their ballots. This concern extends beyond mere voter turnout, reflecting a broader sense of disenchantment with the current political landscape. This situation is a tough one to understand: our young people are facing big challenges, like not having jobs, but they aren’t taking part in the political processes that could help make things better.

These are just two instances, but they make a clear point: when young people decide to participate in the political process, they can help determine the outcome of elections. To simplify the registration process, we’ve introduced a straightforward system. You can easily dial a number on your phone, follow a few simple instructions, and register to vote. The number is as easy to remember as dialling 13420024# on your phone.
