After huge Meta layoffs, Mark Zuckerberg tells employees that he cut jobs more thoughtfully than Elon Musk at Twitter
On Friday, the Meta CEO and other executives hosted a town hall meeting for remaining employees and answered their questions. The Q&A touched on Twitter, and Zuckerberg weighed in, according to people who attended.
He said that companies approach layoffs differently and it's important to approach them thoughtfully. Musk just took over Twitter and clearly didn't have time to plan it as thoughtfully as a lot of other companies, including Meta, did, Zuckerberg added, according to the people who attended. Chaos can happen when you don't think through layoffs thoughtfully, Zuckerberg continued, while conceding that even if companies are thoughtful, there's still no good answer to a lot of questions, according to the people. They asked not to be identified sharing sensitive information. Meta's press office did not respond to an email seeking comment on Friday.
Indeed, during another part of Meta's town hall meeting on Friday, one employee asked whether or not the remaining staffers should anticipate further layoffs. Zuckerberg responded by saying that while the company has no plans for additional layoffs in the coming weeks, he cannot"
