The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) on Friday suspended the safety certificate of the passenger boat which capsized in Binangonan, Rizal.
In a statement, MARINA said it suspended the Passenger Ship Safety Certificate of motorized banca Princess Aya “effective immediately until further notice from this authority.”, as the Philippine Coast Guard resumed search and retrieval operations on Friday. She said all of them have already been identified and authorities are already in communication with their families to claim the bodies. According to the governor, the passengers of the capsized boat are all residents of Rizal.
“The safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain the utmost priority, and any reinstatement of the certificate will be based on favorable recommendations ensuring the vessel's compliance with all safety standards and regulations,” it said. “Additionally, the MARINA will also initiate administrative proceedings relative to its Certificate of Public Convenience once all relevant data is gathered and the Marine Safety Investigation is completed,” it added.
