UTSA alum, NFL player Marcus Davenport has top part of pinkie amputated

, had the top portion of his pinkie amputated after breaking a plate from a previous surgery and suffering an infection.that the pinkie has been a nagging issue since he first tore ligaments inside of the finger during his junior year at UTSA during a 2016 bowl game. Davenport had the pinkie surgically repaired in 2021, but broke the plate and had three more surgeries, which ultimately resulted in amputation.

Davenport has missed 18 games over the course of his four-year career due to ailments, including toe, foot, elbow, shoulder and pectoral injuries. Davenport was selected from UTSA in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. He had nine sacks in 11 games last season.
