PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged the National Security Council (NSC) and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) to continue upholding the Philippines' interests and the security of the Filipino people as he hailed the two agencies for their 'boundless service' to the country.
Speaking during the joint anniversary celebration of the NSC and the NICA at the Philippine International Convention Center on Thursday, Marcos recognized how the agencies have remained at the forefront of ensuring national security for more than seven decades.'I know that you are not often credited nor celebrated enough due to the nature of your work and the sensitivity of the jobs that you hold. Such is the nature of the clandestine services.
'We know that you are the silent guardians who protect us against all manner of national threats, the steadfast vanguards who keep our enemies at bay, and the faithful watchers ensuring that we do not veer to disorder and to chaos,' he added.Marcos said that the country continues to face pressing issues of national concern, including threats to territorial integrity and sovereignty; terrorism and local communist insurgency; threats in cybersecurity; and, dangers of climate change.
