PRESIDENT Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. will lead the necrological services for Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Maria Susana 'Toots' Ople who passed away earlier this week after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
The event will take place at the Kalayaan Hall of Malacañang on Monday, August 28, and will coincide with the nation's commemoration of National Heroes' Day.The Chief Executive, together with Ople's family, will receive the remains of the DMW chief for the closed private service.From the Palace, her remains will then be transferred to the DMW for one more public viewing.
Marcos had described Ople's passing as a 'great loss to the Philippines for the service we know she could still have rendered'.'Secretary Toots was a special person. With the deep compassion really for the people she had to care for, namely the migrant workers, and she was very very—she's a big loss,' he said in a previous interview.Meanwhile, DMW Undesecretary Bernard Olalia will be sitting as officer-in-charge pending Marcos' naming of Ople's replacement.
