Pres. Ferdinand 'Bongbong' R. Marcos Jr., who heads the Department of Agriculture (DA), has ordered DA Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban to meet with egg producers and traders to determine the cause of 'unreasonable' egg prices despite ample supply.

In a bid to reduce the “unreasonable” egg prices in the country despite ample supply, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., who concurrently heads the Department of Agriculture , has directed DA Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban to meet with egg producers and traders to find out what caused the increase in prices of chicken eggs.

“We determined that the increase in the price of eggs is not commensurate to the increase in production cost,” said Marcos. Per the agriculture department’s price watch as of Jan. 13, medium-sized eggs cost P9 each, up from P6.90 in December 2022. To address the situation, the DA has earlier reconvened the Price and Volume Watch Committee and Advisory Groups for Livestock and Poultry to closely watch the prices of eggs across the country.
