President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has approved the adoption of hybrid rice to increase rice production in the country, according to Malacañang. More:

“President Marcos said he will implement a program to promote the shift by providing subsidies and facilitating loan financing to farmers,” the PCO said in a statement. Hybrid farmers have harvested around 7 to 15 metric tons per hectare as compared with the average 3.6 MT per hectare for inbred seeds, according to the Palace.
