Gerik district police chief Supt Zulkifli Mahmood, said that the police received a report from the 35-year-old woman around 1.35 am, alleging that she was tied up and threatened with a knife by her 42-year-old husband, who accused her of infidelity in an incident on April 13."Initial investigations found that on April 13, around 10.30 pm while the victim was sleeping at home, she was approached by her husband, who tied both of her hands from behind using a rope while holding a knife.
"The victim's husband accused her of infidelity and forced her to confess. The suspect also forcibly removed her gold chain and bracelet, tore her clothes and dripped candle wax on her body while threatening to set her on fire, but the victim denied the allegations," he said in a statement today. He said a police team was sent to track down the suspect before he was arrested at his residence in Kampung Alai, Gerik, at 8.30 pm yesterday. Several items related to the case, including a knife believed to have been used by the suspect, were seized."The victim then went to the Emergency Department of the Gerik district hospital for treatment, and the case is being investigated under Sections 506/323 of the Penal Code," he added.
