Man who killed woman at Jersey Shore motel gets decades-long prison prison sentence

On May 1, 2021, the Seaside Heights Police received a call from a person at 7:30 a.m. claiming that Ruiz killed a woman at thein the borough and that he was staying a block away at the Surfside Motel, the office said. When officers arrived at the Offshore Motel, they found the body of 29-year-old Alecia Perreault, of Seaside Heights, with wounds on her neck, investigators said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the office said. Ruiz was found overdosed a short time later at his room at the Surfside Motel.
Ruiz was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River and since being released, he has been detained in a secure medical facility, authorities said. Perreault’s death was ruled a homicide and an investigation revealed that Ruiz was responsible for killing her, the office said. However, her cause of death was not released.
