A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a car in the middle of the afternoon on a footpath in Melbourne’s west. Just after 4pm on October 16, a grey or silver Toyota sedan was travelling on Ballarat Rd in Sunshine when it mounted the footpath and hit a 40-year-old man.
As the driver left the scene, the car hit council bins on the nature strip, leaving them strewn over the road. The pedestrian, from Footscray, was taken to hospital and remains there with serious injuries. Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage. On Wednesday, they released photos of a similar car to the one believed to have been involved in the incident and also images of the council bins strewn across the road.
