Manchester United have now reportedly reached an agreement that could see one of their outcasts exit the club.
Van de Beek had previously been linked with Spanish side Real Sociedad earlier in the window, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs failed to reach a conclusive agreement on a transfer. However, an agreement with the player himself still needs to be ironed out. The 26-year-old was signed by United from Ajax Amsterdam in September 2020 in a deal worth £35 million , plus £5million in add-ons, but has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford since.
Unable to replicate the form he displayed in the Eredivisie, the Dutchman was loaned out to Everton halfway through the 2021/22 campaign, but only made seven appearances for the Toffees. Last season under Erik ten Hag, Van de Beek made just 10 appearances in all competitions for United, making it clear he is not in the Dutch tactician's plans. Meanwhile, transfer expert David Ornstein reports that United are still working on a deal to sign Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat in a loan move, with Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich is also said to be on the club's radar.
