The man – a 64-year-old Bahamian national, according to reports – was seen firing flares from his disabled sailboat after becoming stranded near Cay Sal, a small island between Florida, the Bahamas and Cuba. He was located by a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry Crew, which dropped the man supplies, including water, food and a radio for communication.The man told the Coast Guard crew he had been stranded for three days after his sailboat broke down during his voyage.
