A man has been shot and several people are feared to have been stabbed at one of Sydney’s busiest shopping centres. Emergency services swarmed to Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday afternoon. “A critical incident has commenced following the shooting of male at Bondi Junction,” police said in a statement. “Just before 4pm, emergency services were called to Westfield Bondi Junction following reports of multiple people stabbed “People are urged to avoid the area.
It’s believed the gunshots were fired by police. Rowan said those in the gym were then evacuated to the rooftop. Paramedics were seen treating several people at the scene. Others, including a young child, were seen being loaded into ambulances. Waverley Council said the shopping centre was “locked down”. “A police operation is currently underway at Westfield Bondi Junction,” it said in a tweet. “The centre is locked down amid reports of multiple stabbings.
