According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, when authorities arrived Wright was standing next to the vehicle with a sign that read,"In June 2018, Matthew Wright blocked a bridge near the Hoover Dam in an armored truck.

After a nearly hour-long stand-off, Wright fled in his vehicle, driving over tire deflation devices and past law enforcement. Despite three deflated tires, he continued to flee state troopers for more than half an hour until he was apprehended along a dirt road heading toward the river, the ADPS said.He was initially charged with obstruction of a highway, endangerment, unlawful flight from law enforcement, misconduct involving a weapon and terrorist acts, on June 15, 2018.
