A 41-year-old man in Singapore was sentenced to 81 months and eight weeks' jail for hitting a man with a baseball bat and fleeing to Malaysia. He also pleaded guilty to selling 27 bank accounts to unknown individuals, knowing they could be used for scams. Over S$1.9 million flowed through these accounts. His accomplices in the attack were also sentenced.
SINGAPORE: A man was jailed on Monday for hitting a man on his head with a baseball bat and later fleeing to Johor Baru in the boot of a car.
According to court documents, over S$1.9 million flowed through these bank accounts in total. It was not mentioned where the money came from or how many scam victims were involved. Driving in three separate cars, they had stopped at a red traffic light along Beach Road when a drunk man approached Shabir’s car and shouted vulgarities at him.After Shabir and Lim punched the victim, Fadly approached him and swung a baseball bat towards his head.
Later that night, the men coordinated their accounts of the incident and agreed that if they were questioned by the police, they would not mention that a baseball bat was used in the fight. After fleeing to Malaysia, Fadly sold multiple bank accounts to an unknown Telegram user called “JC” between July 2022 and April 2023 by giving him the login details to these accounts.He also sold bank accounts to other unknown buyers online.
