Suspect Joshua Anthony Lewis-Brown is also accused of driving without a license.
On 12/16/19 at 10:51 AM ESTA man has been arrested after Indiana State Police pulled over to help him with a flat tire only to discover he was driving a stolen car with a fake license plate written in crayon.
The 20-year-old suspect, Joshua Anthony Lewis-Brown, from Rochester, New York, told police that he was unable to change the tire on his tan Toyota Corolla and required a tow-truck. Lewis-Brown was also not in possession of a valid driver's license and was on probation for grand larceny at the time.He faces charges of possession of stolen property, a level 5 felony, and operating without ever obtaining a license, a level C misdemeanor.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the car had been stolen after the owner left the engine running and the doors unlocked while he went inside a grocery store. The owner reportedly wanted to keep the car warm during the recent cold weather by not switching the engine off. When he exited the shop, he found the car had been stolen.
