The family of a missing man were relieved when his body was found in the bushland near the Durian Mentangau river. Mohd Firdaus Daniel Zulkifli, 18, discovered his father, Zulkifli Awi, 54, lying dead around noon. Zulkifli, a scrap metal collector, hadn't returned home from work since the previous evening. After his son tried calling him and searching for him at work, a friend informed him that they had found his car in Durian Mentangau. Following his father's footprints near the car, the son and two friends found Zulkifli's body. The Dungun District Police Chief, Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir, confirmed the discovery, stating that there were no signs of foul play. The body was taken to the Dungun Hospital Forensics Unit for further action, and the case is currently classified as sudden death.

Katanya, bapanya yang bekerja sebagai pengutip besi buruk tidak pulang ke rumah mereka di Kampung Balai Besar, sejak petang semalam. “Saya cuba menghubungi telefon bimbit ayah, namun tidak dijawab. Saya cuba cari ayah di tempat kerjanya, namun dia tiada. Kemudian, saya dihubungi rakan ayah yang menemukan keretanya di Durian Mentangau sebelum ke lokasi tersebut,” katanya hari ini.
“Kami ikut tapak kasut tersebut sebelum menemukan ayah tertiarap di atas tanah, saya dapati ayah sudah tidak bernyawa,” katanya.
