BEAUFORT: A man, who was filmed scolding Parti Warisan Sabah candidate Datuk Karim Bujang in a 28-second video clip, has put up a Barisan Nasional flag at his home.
The Jan 6 incident, which seems to have stemmed from a misunderstanding over some matters between Karim’s officials and the disgruntled man, took a political twist when the man joined Umno and then flew the Barisan flag.
In confirming that the man joined Umno late on Monday, Sabah Barisan chairman Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin said they did not know why the man scolded Karim and said they had nothing to do with it."We don’t know what the problem was between them. The man came by himself to join Umno and support Barisan, ” Bung told reporters after a ceremah at Kampung Kuala Mandahan here on Monday night.
The Kimanis by-election is seeing a straight fight between Karim and Barisan’s Datuk Alamin Karim, with incumbent former Umno MP Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who held the seat from 1990, staying out of the race. Bung said Anifah and local opposition parties, like PBS and Sabah STAR, are expected to support Alamin.
