A man is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault in a July shooting in the Red Bird neighborhood of Dallas that left five injured, with one later dying from his injuries.Dallas police on Thursday announced Dantae Brooks, 28, is facing a murder charge in the shooting. Jail records also show he is facing six charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.
A Dallas officer was also injured and taken to a hospital, treated for a non-life-threatening injury and released, said police, who did not describe the nature of the officer’s injury.Police said at the time of the shooting they were seeking three suspects, and they believed the shooting was targeted.Brooks remained in the Dallas County jail on Thursday afternoon. His bail was set at $1.8 million. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
