Central Pierce Fire and Rescue said arriving crews found the two-story home fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters confirmed there was a car in the driveway and started searching for people inside. The 12 responding units started working to control the fire.
Firefighters said the floor and roof were damaged. Around 7:30 a.m. firefighters found a man, believed to be in his 50s, inside the house and started life-saving efforts. The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital 10 minutes later but unfortunately passed away. Central Pierce Fire said that crews are still on the scene working on hotspots and investigating the cause of the fire.
“Central Pierce Fire & Rescue offers heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” said the agency.
