Sycamore Gap tree was felled last week
A man has said he is 'devastated' after the National Trust dug up a sapling he planted next to the felled Sycamore Gap.
The 27-year-old visited the site again on Saturday night at around 7pm to see that the tree was still standing. However, when ChronicleLive returned to the site on Sunday morning, it had been removed - with Kieran describing it as "devastating". Despite the tree's removal, Kieran says that the National Trust have told him that the tree has been moved to Housesteads Visitor Centre, two miles further east along Hadrian's Wall. However, the National Trust told the Chronicle that a new location for the tree has not yet been confirmed.
