A search is underway for a man convicted of murder who escaped from a state prison Monday morning. Jordan Andrew Thomas, 30, escaped from Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County about 11 a.m. Details of his escape have not yet been made public.

Jordan Andrew Thomas, 30, escaped from Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County about 11 a.m. Details of his escape have not yet been made public.He was first convicted in Montgomery County in 2014 and sentenced to 75 years in prison, but that conviction was dismissed because of incomplete jury charges. He was retried again in 2019, court records show, and sentenced to life in prison.
