A Sydney man has been arrested for allegedly sending “harassing and menacing” emails threatening to “seriously harm” federal politicians, after being warned by police to stop.

A 54-year-old Auburn man was caught allegedly sending a number of Commonwealth public officials and elected representatives 18 “harassing and menacing emails” between October and February.

However, on Friday, officers were notified that the man allegedly continued to issue threats, including those of violence. He was arrested later the same day, after a police search seized a mobile phone and a notebook at his home. He appeared in Parramatta Court on Saturday and was remanded ahead of his appearance in Burwood Local Court on Monday.
