Daily News | Man arrested in fatal stabbing at SEPTA station in Center City
SEPTA Transit Police on Thursday said they arrested the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old Camden County man on Wednesday at the 8th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line in Center City.
The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was arrested around 5 p.m. at the 2nd Street Station, said Acting Transit Police Chief Charles Lawson in a statement. A man matching the suspect’s description had been spotted through SEPTA’s video surveillance system at several other stations prior and police tracked him down at 2nd Street, Lawson said.Christian Rios, of Gloucester City, was on the platform accompanied by a woman when he became involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect just before 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Rios was stabbed twice in the chest on the platform or in a stairwell leading up to the street, where police found him on the sidewalk. He was rushed by police to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m.
