PETALING JAYA: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly insulting the royal institution and making racially provocative statements through a social media post.

Police force secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the man was arrested in Seremban on Thursday ."We seized two mobile phones and two SIM cards from the suspect.

"The Bukit Aman CID Special Investigations Unit is investigating the case for bringing hate against any royalty or government as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for misuse of networking facilities," she said in a statement on Thursday.DCP Noorsiah urged the public to be responsible, wise and courteous social media users.

"Do not use the platform to cause public anxiety and threaten national harmony, especially concerning issues involving Rulers, race and religion. "Stern action without compromise will be taken against anyone who intentionally threatens public order and national security," she said.
